The ADiM Advanced Laboratory on European Union Legislation
The Academy of Law and Migration (ADiM) is thrilled to announce that the ADiM Advanced Laboratory on European Union Legislation (EU Lab) is on the launch pad! The Kick-off Meeting of the EU Lab will be held at the University of Florence (Dept. of Legal Sciences) on 15 May 2019 (h. 13:00-16:00).
The Lab is open to all the ADiM members who have an expertise on the topics concerning the Area of Freedom, Security and Justice (AFSJ). ADiM members are invited to submit their manifestation of interest, a short bio and a list of publications to the ADiM Secretariat no later than May 10.
What is the EU Lab?
The EU Lab is a permanent group of analysis, debate and evaluation of the European legislative measures adopted or proposed under Title V of the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union. It is aimed at building up a network of scholars and experts, interested in having their voices heard in Brussels and in contributing to the legislative activity of the European Union.
Which are the EU Lab’s goals?
The EU Lab will prepare and disseminate progress reports on EU legislation in the field of migration and asylum, as well as informative materials and press releases on relevant case law and practice. The Lab will also host workshops aimed to contribute to the debate on European legislation, providing members of the European Parliament (MEPs) and other relevant decision-makers with strategic analysis and pre- assessment results of the opportunities and challenges faced by the Union in the short, medium and long term.
The outcomes of the EU Lab’s activity of desk research and dissemination will be brought to the attention of MEPs via seminars, informal meeting and lobbying, with a view to enhance the MEPs’ awareness of the legal implications of proposed legislative measures and amendments and possibly influence the outcomes of the legislative debate.
How does the EU Lab work?
The Members of the EU Lab, alongside other invited participants (ADiM Members, Representatives of national and European Institutions), will gather in different venues: Florence, Bologna and Brussels.
The meetings will be held on a regular basis (every three months) with a view to identify key areas of analyisis, distribute tasks, share and discuss the outcomes of the reports done, plan and organise dissemination and outreach activities. The working languages will be English and Italian.
